When families and school districts disagree on placements or educational services for a child with disabilities,due process may be a last resort in resolving the dispute. This seminar is an opportunity to demystify what due process is and how it works; learn common mistakes for families to avoid; and gain insight into how judges decide outcomes. This workshop is free of charge. When an individual is denied regional center eligibility or services, fair hearings are an important step in the appeal process.  This seminar will focus on how to prepare for a fair hearing to maximize your success, and will discuss common mistakes to avoid.  Ms. Katie Hornberger, Esq. is the Director of the Office of Clients' Rights Advocacy of Disability Rights California.

Self Determination (SB 468)

On October 9, 2013, Governor Brown signed Senate Bill 468 into law, amending the Lanterman Act and mandating Regional Centers to implement a Self Determination Program. Per the law, the California Department of Developmental Services (DDS) has to apply for approval of federal funding for this new Self Determination Program by December 31, 2014. ELARC is awaiting direction from DDS regarding implementation of this new program. For the most updated information regarding Self Determination, please go to the DDS website at www.dds.ca.gov.

CPAD Information (October 2013)

2014 Disneyland Community Involvement Program 

Ticket sales open Wednesday December 4, 2013 

Individual orders will receive their Disney eTickets via the email on the Client List. They must use Adobe Reader software to open and print eTickets. Each printed eTicket allows one entry at a Disneyland Park turnstile. Acceptable forms of payment include credit card and Disney gift card (no cash or checks).
